Summer Camps

Come join us for Jump for Joy’s Summer Riding Camps. These camps offer English and western riding with an emphasis on control and safety around horses. Your child will start their day off with one hour lesson on one of our wonderful horses, followed by arts and crafts, creating a folder of their week with us, un-mounted lessons on horse care, and an afternoon bareback lesson to increase control and coordination.

WHAT CAMP COVERS:

Campers will learn how to ride both English and western during their week at camp.Everything from Barrel Racing to Jumping will be covered and all campers will learn to control their horses without assistance. Campers will also better their equitation and riding skills through daily bareback riding in a controlled and safe environment.

Campers will learn different horse colors and breeds. They will also learn how to tack up a horse both English and Western and how to groom in the proper fashion.

Campers will receive daily clinics on different horse sports including but not limited to gymkhana and Hunter/Jumpers. Natural Horsemanship clinics will be presented as well as clinics that cover Search and Rescue. A special clinic will be given by a professional farrier on care and maintenance of horse feet.

What your child needs each day:

Every day: Come wearing stretchy pants you can move in, tennis shoes, riding boots (if you
have any), horseback riding helmet (if you have one), modest t-shirt or camp shirt, bottled water (we will have water for sale for $1/bottle), sunscreen, morning and afternoon snack, and sack lunch (refrigerator available).


Friday: Bring $5 for pizza and soda.


Saturday: Come wearing stretchy pants you can move in, riding boots (if you have any), and horseback riding helmet (if you have one).

 

Horse Camp Itinerary:

Monday
: Western Riding Day,  Decorate camp binder, Learn to Groom, Learn Horse Colors, Video w/ Quiz, Horse Board Games, Group Games, and Afternoon Bareback Riding.

Tuesday: English Riding Day,  Learn to Groom and Tack up, Learn Horse Breeds, Craft for Folder, Book Facts Search, Horse Board Games, and Afternoon Bareback Riding.

Wednesday: Western Riding Day, Learn Types of Bits Used and Why, Learn to Groom and Tack up, Video w/ Quiz, Get Picture Taken w/ favorite Horse for Folder, Horse Board Games, Group Games. and Afternoon Bareback Riding.

Thursday: English Riding Day, Learn to Groom and Tack up, Learn Types of Horse Boots and Bandages, Learn to Clean Tack, Horse Board Games, Afternoon Bareback Riding.

Friday: Pick your Saddle Day! (Kids can ride in any saddle), Dry Run Through for Show, Put Pictures in Folder, Learn to Bathe Horses, Pizza and Soda Day $5

Saturday: Horse Show at 10:00am with BBQ to follow(all proceeds to benefit TROTR horse rescue)!

Participants should arrive at 9:30am
